About Juniper Lane Doodles

Juniper Lane started in 2017 with one dog and a street name. I'm Hannah. My husband Drew and I were renting a house on Juniper Lane when Sadie, our medium Goldendoodle, had her first litter in the dining room. Two years later we moved to five acres in northern Wake County, and the name came with us.

We breed mini and medium multigenerational Goldendoodles, registered with the Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA). Multigen means both parents are Goldendoodles, several generations deep. We went that direction because it lets us test for coat traits and predict adult size, which a first-generation cross can't do with any reliability.

None of our dogs live in a kennel. Every breeding dog lives with a guardian family within about an hour of us, as that family's pet, and comes to our house only to be bred, to whelp and to raise her litter. It keeps the program small on purpose. Each dog gets one household's full attention for her whole life, and we get to work with more bloodlines than two people could keep well under one roof.

Every parent is health tested before a first breeding: OFA hips and elbows, patellas, a cardiac exam, a CAER eye exam, and a DNA panel covering prcd-PRA, GR-PRA1, GR-PRA2, vWD1, NEwS, DM and ichthyosis. We also test coat genes for furnishings, curl and shedding. Whether a doodle sheds is the first thing every family asks, and the honest answer depends on the two dogs in the pairing.

Puppies are born in our home and stay until 8 weeks. We do Early Neurological Stimulation from day 3 to day 16, start litter-tray and crate conditioning at 4 weeks, and run a temperament evaluation at 6 weeks. After that we match puppies to families based on what each household needs, instead of letting the fastest deposit pick first.
